Written and directed by John Hughes and starring Molly Ringwald, Anthony Michael Hall, Michael Schoeffling, Gedde Watanabe, Haviland Morris and Paul Dooley, Sixteen Candles launched Hughes’ career as a director after his earlier success as a screenwriter.
